§ 2-128. Emergency line of succession.

  • (a)

    In the case of an emergency, the line of succession for the office of mayor for the city shall be:

    (1)

    Mayor.

    (2)

    Most senior city council member.

    (3)

    Other city council members according to seniority.

    (b)

    The most senior city council member is the one who has served for the longest consecutive period. In the event that two or more city council members have equivalent seniority, the emergency interim executive successor shall be chosen in alphabetical order. The successor shall exercise the powers of the office of mayor.
