§ 2-442. Composition; appointment of members; term of office.

  • (a)

    The historic commission shall consist of nine members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council for staggered terms not to exceed three years. Members of the commission shall be residents of the city. The commission shall elect its chair, vice-chair and secretary annually.

    (b)

    Membership on the historic commission will be composed of individuals knowledgeable in the historic traditions of the city and interested in the preservation of the historic character of the city. Persons such as architects, educators, historic preservationists, historians, museum professionals, real estate professionals and other community members whose interests and expertise will contribute to the enhancement and enjoyment of the city's heritage and historic structures.
