§ 70-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning. Whenever any words, terms and phrases used in this chapter are not defined in this section but are defined in the state laws regulating the operation of vehicles, any such definition therein shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used in this chapter.

    Central Business District means all streets and portions of streets described in motor vehicle and traffic schedule I.

    Editor's note— The schedule referred to in the preceding definition, schedule I, streets within central business district, is not printed in this Code, but is on file in the city offices.

    Curb loading zone means a space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

    Freight curb loading zone means a space adjacent to a curb for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of freight or passengers.

    Official time standard. Whenever certain hours are named in this chapter, they shall mean standard time or daylight saving time, as may be in current use in the city.

    Passenger curb loading zone means a place adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.

    Railroad train means a locomotive, diesel, electric or otherwise powered, with or without cars coupled thereto, operated upon rails.

    Traffic division means the traffic division of the police department of the city, or if a traffic division is not established, then such term shall be deemed to refer to the police department of the city.
